Deco Glaze gives 5 reasons why glass splashback is a good idea for kitchens or bathrooms:
1) Heat toughened:
Toughened glass is one of the strongest and most durable material that can be put in a kitchen.
In the toughening process, the surfaces of the glass are heated in a furnace. Temperatures vary but the glass normally reaches temperatures of over 600°C. The hot glass is then cooled rapidly by a blast of air over a period of between 3 -10 seconds.
Toughened glass is 5 times stronger than the equivalent thickness of float glass offering greatly increased resistance to both sudden temperature changes and temperature differentials up to 200°C.
2) Easy to care for
Unlike tiles which need re-grouting or wood which needs oiling glass is extremely easy to care for and can be clean with the below steps:
- Spray on your cleaner leave the cleaning solution on for 1-2 minutes.
- Gently wipe the surface from one side to the other using a soft cloth or paper towel.
- For a sparkling finish, buff the dry surface with a super soft cloth.
3) Extremely safe
In the unlikely event of breakage thermally toughened safety glass fractures into numerous small pieces, the edges of which are generally blunt. this prevents razor sharp shards being scattered all over your kitchen.
4) Unlimited choice
Glass Splash backs offer a near unlimited range of choice (read also our article on the colour psychology).
Deco Glaze Splashbacks come in over 50 standard colours including metallic colours, you can have Matte or Gloss finish.
Glass splashbacks can be textured as well as smooth and can even be printed to have any photo or illustration you desire.
Glass splashbacks are non-porous, meaning that they are extremely easy to clean and are very hygienic unlike tiles where grouting attracts dirt and germs, this is also true of pours rock like granite and marble.
